Stay Fearless & Fight

The Fearless Fund, a vital resource for women of color entrepreneurs, grant program has been halted by a federal appeals court decision. "The lawsuit claims that the program is “racially discriminatory,” spearheaded by Edward Blum, who also was behind the Supreme Court's decision in 2023 to overturn affirmative action in college admissions.” (Time, 2024)

This setback strikes at the core of their efforts to close the significant venture capital gap faced by black women, who receive less than 1% of all venture capital funding. Considering that black women are already significantly underfunded, labeling the Fund's efforts as “racially discriminatory” is ridiculous! The obvious discrepancies clearly show that black women entrepreneurs face extreme systemic socio-economic discrimination. The numbers clearly illustrate this inequity, with the 1% speaking volumes!

Why This Hits Home: The mission of the Fearless Fund—mirrors our own commitment at Black Luxe & Co. As a company founded and led by a black woman, this ruling isn't just a professional disappointment; it's personal. Further fueling our commitment to dismantle systemic barriers that continuous block the socioeconomic advancement of black people.
